Below you can find news and updates from Michelle (from 2010 and earlier), relating both to this website and her art in general.

10 April 2010:
I gave an interview on my artwork, a few weeks ago, for a local magazine (Our Homes, Windsor & Essex County), and the article appeared recently, both online and distributed across the Windsor area. Nancy Belgue, the author of the article, is a wonderful local writer. I've just been introduced to her books, for children and young adults, and I've really enjoyed her writing. Check out her article on my work, titled "Material Girl".

13 September 2009:
I took a few days last week to go on a quick tour of Lake Huron/Southern Georgian Bay area (what a gorgeous area!). Besides doing some camping and sight-seeing, I stopped in at a few artsy shops and galleries along my drive. I'm happy to report that the following 3 galleries now carry my work: Marten Arts Gallery in Bayfield, Gallery de Boer in Owen Sound, and Eclektika Galerie Boutique in Collingwood. Beautiful galleries, all of them, with a nice selection of art. I'm proud to have been accepted.

04 August 2009:
Exciting things are happening here in Windsor this summer! A fabulous new shop is opening up at 1465 Ottawa Street this weekend (8 August). It's called "Made in Windsor", and it's going to sell a wide array of funky and beautiful things handcrafted by talented and creative people right here in Windsor (from jewelry, to clothing, to home decor, to... fiber art such as my own). Here's the link to the store's blog:

18 April 2009:
Happy Spring! We've been having gorgeous weather down here in Southern Ontario the last little while. Very inspiring!

The Nancy Johns Gallery is having a juried exhibition this month (11-24 April), with a closing reception on Friday 24 April 2009. The show is called "Twentyfour x twentyfour", and all pieces entered are 24"x24" in dimension. About 45 artists, including myself, have been juried for this exhibition. For details on the show, and the reception, please visit the gallery's website.

8 February 2009:
Happy 2009! A new year, a new look (I'm redesigning this site).

Lots of things to report. I'm doing quite a bit of teaching and lecturing over the next couple of months. The Manitoba Prairie Quilters have invited me to teach 3 workshops in Winnipeg this March (see Classes for details), and I'll be giving lectures to the Windsor ARA (Association of Representational Artists) and the Windsor Quilters Guild in February and March respectively.

This is also the time of year for quilting competitions and challenges, and I've been busy getting my entries ready for a number of shows. I've entered a piece for jurying into the 2009 National Juried Show of the Canadian Quilters Association, and I'm putting the finishing touches on an entry for the Trend-Tex challenge for the same show. And I have a couple of weeks to work on my entry into the Quilting Arts Magazine 2010 Calendar contest (this year the theme is "Fresh Picked"). I hope to have photos to post on these various projects soon.
